About Belfast Airport
Belfast International Airport is the principle
gateway to the north of Ireland, serving over 3 million passengers
a year. It is the closest all-weather airport in Europe to the
USA, and is ideally located for rapid turnaround and repositioning
of transatlantic flights. The airport operates 24 hours a day,
365 days a year and is not subject to noise abatement procedures,
significant environmental constraints or airspace limitations.

Belfast Airport - Shopping & Catering
The Food Court
A full range of food outlets including Burger King, Little
Chef Express and Franklin's of Boston, are located in the food
court on the departures concourse. The food court also offers
a range of sandwiches, healthy eating options and children's meals,
and is open from the first flight of the day to the last departing
flight of the day.
Additional food outlets are located throughout the
terminal, including the new cafebar@bial.co.uk Passengers flying
internationally can now relax in the cafebar, on the international
pier. This facility provides light snacks and a full bar service
for passengers departing from the pier.
Shopping
The shopping area on the departures concourse is dominated by
World News which sells newspapers, magazines, books, CD's, tobacco,
confectionery, children's toys and gifts. A limited range of toiletries
is also available. A range of gift shops is also located in this
area including A Taste of Ulster (incorporating The Guinness Shop)
and The Sock Shop.
Belfast Airport -The Business Traveller
Business passengers can now take advantage of an
extensive range of business facilities at BIA, designed to help
the business traveller make the most of time spent at the airport.
British Airways operates 7 flights a day to London
Heathrow catering specifically for the business traveller. Additionally
BA maintain dedicated executive lounge facilities for use by their
executive club members.
Helping to make business travel as stress free as
possible, British Airways now offers a new Advanced Ticket and
Boarding (ATB) system. The newly installed ATB now means that
business travellers can use British Airways' three Self-Service
check-in machines, located to the left hand side of the check-in
hall at Belfast International Airport. Self-Service check-in is
simple to use and offers a faster, more convenient way to speed
through the airport formalities. The passenger simply inserts
the ATB and within a matter of seconds the machine retrieves their
booking and displays the information on screen including allocated
seat number. The passenger simply confirms the transaction and
the machine prints the boarding card. If your return journey is
within 24 hours, you can also check-in for this flight too! In
addition, British Airways Executive Club passengers can have their
seat pre-assigned by Telephone Check-in on 0345 222747 from 3pm
onwards the day before travel. Passengers travelling with baggage
can also use this fast, convenient and simple way of checking-in.
Belfast Airport - Facilities for Disabled Passengers
The airport has an on-going commitment to passengers
with special needs. Belfast Airport is represented on the Transport
Advisory Committee of Disability Action (NI) and meet regularly
with airlines and service providers on-site to innovate and share
expertise.
Assistance available includes:
- 16 dedicated spaces in the Short stay car park, 10 in the
main stay car park and 26 in the holiday car park
- Use of airport wheelchairs throughout the terminal
- Low level kerbs at terminal entrance and exit
- Porters are trained in assisting mobility-impaired passengers
- One level access to all terminal facilities
- Lifts between departures and arrivals
- Low level telephones
- Disabled toilets on both floors
- Minicom at information desk
- Information desk staff have basic sign language skills
For passengers who require assistance, wheelchairs
are available on request from your airline or any member of the
Airport Service Staff. Where possible, these should be arranged
in advance, preferably with your airline at the time of booking
your tickets. Airport Services Staff can provide assistance until
your check-in is complete, at which time your airline will ensure
that you are taken to the departure lounge and assisted with boarding.
Belfast Airport - Additional Facilities
Bureau de Change
Thomas Cook provides a full foreign exchange, credit transfer
and cheque cashing service in their main office on the departure
concourse. In addition travel insurance, phonecards and postage
stamps are available for purchase. A second Thomas Cook outlet
in the international arrival's hall opens to cover all international
scheduled and chartered flight arrivals.
Banking
The Northern Bank, the Ulster Bank and the Halifax provide ATM
services in the passenger terminal. The Northern and Ulster Bank
machines are situated in the departures concourse on the first
floor, while the Halifax dispenser is located on the ground floor
in the arrivals hall. Each dispenses bank of England bank notes.
The Quiet Room
The Quiet Room is situated on the ground floor of the airport,
close to the information desk. The quiet room is intended as a
place for private reflection and is open to people of all religious
traditions or none.
The Smoking Room
A fully air-conditioned smoking room is provided in the arrivals
hall. Belfast International Airport operates a strict no smoking
policy except in designated areas.
Viewing Gallery
Accessible from the departure concourse the viewing gallery provides
a panoramic view of the main runway and all aircraft stands. A
favourite with plane spotters of all ages!
Left Luggage
Unfortunately there is not a left luggage facility available at
Belfast International Airport at present. However, the Belfast
Visitor and Convention Bureau Welcome Centre situated in Donegall
Place, Belfast do have a facility, although they do not keep luggage
overnight. They can be contacted on 028 9023 9026.
